Marc Guehi
Center Back
Marc Guehi is a central defender who has recently found favor within the English Team. He is only 23, but has been playing regular first team football in both the Championship and Premier league for a number of years now. He began his career at the Chelsea academy, and then made his professional debut for the senior team in the EFL cup. He was quickly moved to Swansea, where he continued to develop his skills across two more seasons. After making a good impression at Swansea, he caught the eye of Crystal Palace, where he has remained since. He is an overall very well rounded defender. He has the ideal mix of pace, strength, football IQ, and tackling ability. This was clearly recognized by Southgate, who played him five times during the Euro qualifiers. Even though he did not start every game, five qualifier appearances is more than most other English center backs. This is the primary reason we think he will be chosen to go to Germany, and the increase in squad size from 23 to 26 means there is definitely a place for him in this team. We do not think he will start over the likes of Harry Maguire or John Stones, but he will serve as an excellent defensive option coming off the bench, or as a replacement if another player is injured.
