Kobbie Mainoo is one of England’s brightest young stars and represents the future of the English national team. At 18 years old, his abilities led him to make regular appearances for England’s largest and most successful club, Manchester United. He is calm and collected when on the ball, bossing the midfield with players sometimes twice his age. He also shows flashes of absolute brilliance, finding a decisive pass or dribbling past multiple players to score the game-winning goal. He may not be as developed or experienced as the other players on the team, but that is perfectly okay. When selecting a team, managers must also consider the future of their team. Because Mainoo is shaping up to be a mainstay within the team, it is a good investment to take him to the 2024 Euros in order for him to gain experience at an international tournament. That is not to say his only role will be to sit on the bench and watch the adults play. We think he will be able to seamlessly slot into the team and keep up with the more seasoned players when needed. The 2024 Euros may not be Mainoo’s breakout tournament, but he certainly deserves the opportunity to participate, and we are eagerly waiting to see where his career takes him.
