Bukayo Saka
Winger
Bukayo Saka is another exciting player. He is one of Arsenal’s best players and is leading his team in a race for their first Premier League title in two decades. He broke out onto the scene during the 2021/22 Premier League season, in which he scored 11 goals and had 7 assists as a 20-year-old. He has a similar playstyle to Phil Foden: skillful dribbling, blistering pace, and a good ability to send balls into the box. However, Saka has a tendency to cut in from the wing and drive towards the goal himself, which is responsible for his higher goal tally for England. He has 11 goals in 32 matches, a very impressive statistic for such a young player. While Saka is naturally talented both on and off the ball, we would argue that his unprecedented resilience throughout his career sets him apart. During the final 2021 Euros tournament, a heavy burden was placed on his shoulders when he was asked to be one of England’s penalty-takers. Saka missed his penalty, which contributed significantly to England’s heartbreaking loss. Sadly, this also led to Saka being exposed to racist abuse from not only opposing fans but his own English fans. Impressively, Saka was able to remain unphased by both the penalty and racist abuse and has continued his meteoric rise onto the footballing scene. His strong mentality, amazing form, and innate talent have all set him up to be one of the standout players during the Euro 2024 tournament.
