Jarrod Bowen

Right Winger and Forward

Jarrod Bowen is a very unlucky player when it comes to national team selection. He is a very talented winger who has had an overall successful career thus far, but he has yet to make a meaningful impact on the international level. Every year he is in the conversation for the national team, every year he is just on the cusp of being chosen, and every year his hopes are dashed. He has been a consistent performer in the Premier League for the past 5 years, always racking up a considerable number of both goals and assists. He is currently in the middle of his best season yet, having already scored 15 goals with 7 games still left. This makes him the 7th highest scorer in the league this season, which is partially due to his ability to slide into a more central position and play as a forward. He is a versatile player, capable of making deadly runs in behind the defense and then finishing with calmness and precision. Even though he is an outstanding player, the unfortunate reality for Bowen is that there is an abundance of competition for both wingers and strikers in the England team. Bowen taking a striker slot is out of the question with the likes of Harry Kane, Ollie Watkins, and Ivan Toney all potentially being on the team sheet. Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer, Marcus Rashford, and Anthony Gordon all make securing a winger spot a serious challenge as well. We would be very happy to see him participate this summer, but unfortunately we just do not see it happening this time. However, it is always possible that Southgate surprises us and finally gives Bowen the opportunity we think he deserves.

Jarrod Bowen

“I was disappointed to miss out but that's what happened. I had to deal with it and all I could do is keep playing football to a level that I know that I can play at and everything will take care of itself.”
