Jarrad Branthwaite

Center Back

Jarrad Branthwaite, despite his impressive form in recent seasons, has not been included in the England squad for the upcoming fixtures. The young defender playing for Everton has shown significant development and consistency, earning praises for his robust defensive skills and aerial prowess. Over the recent campaign, Branthwaite has been a cornerstone of Everton’s defense. This season, he has continued to enhance his reputation as one of the promising English talents. However, Southgate should opt for the experience and Premier League-proven ability of Lewis Dunk and the youthful exuberance and flexibility of Levi Colwill, both of whom have had strong domestic campaigns. Dunk brings a wealth of experience and leadership, while Colwill offers versatility, being able to play in multiple defensive positions with a level of maturity beyond his years. Despite not getting called up, Branthwaite’s ability to read the game, combined with his physical attributes, positions him as a strong candidate for future international call-ups. His current focus remains on continuing his development and helping his club achieve their ambitions.

Jarrad Branthwaite

“He seemed to be quite an assured character, quite a calm character. I like that in all players, but particularly in centre halves. His adaptation has been clear to the pace and the detail of Premier League football. He continues to improve, and physically he is a good specimen.” -Sean Dyche, Everton Manager
